This article demonstrates the City of Welland staff’s inter-departmental approach to collecting and uniting data from across city departments, to create a user-friendly open data system for stakeholders and city staff. Through team-work and consistency, Welland was able to report more than 90 of the total 100 indicators and achieve ISO 37120 platinum level certification. The article explains how Information Technology Staff provide a behind the scenes support system to creating a better quality of life for communities through comprehensive sets of open data.
