This report highlights insights arising from taking an ecosystem approach to convene experts and affected parties across active transportation sectors. This 2025 Active Transportation Summit held in BC convened perspectives from transportation, health
care, academia, climate action and resilience, economic development and tourism.
Summit participants explored how to build sustainable, connected communities through:
– Safe cycling networks
– Micromobility pilots
– Reconciliation through trails and rural connectivity
A unifying theme was that Active Transportation equals healthier, resilient communities. Walkable, connected, inclusive design cuts emissions, and strengthens preventative health, resilience, and social cohesion.
