Niagara Region’s responsibilities include delivering a range of municipal services including infrastructure, human and social services, health, and public safety and security. The Regional government operations are overseen by Regional Council, which is comprised of 30 elected officials from the 12 area municipalities and the Regional Chair. The priorities for the Niagara Region can be found in Council’s Business Plan (link) which is developed at the beginning of each new term of Council. The Region works with local municipalities, and community stakeholders on a number of projects and initiatives related to the strategic priorities such as those outlined in the Council Business Plan and mandated responsibilities. The work of the Region is also profiled in the Sustainable Niagara Action Database.
