This report shows that Niagara’s economy continues to navigate global headwinds while showing signs of local resilience. Looking to 2026, Niagara’s economy faces continued uncertainty from external trade pressures but is buoyed by population growth, steady non-residential investment, and signs of economic adaptation. Post-census population data from Statistics Canada show that Niagara continues to grow rapidly. The region’s population reached 539,180 in 2024, an 8.4% increase since 2021. By comparison, Canada’s population grew by 8.0% and Ontario’s by 8.6% over the same period. Niagara’s population is projected to reach 543,964 by the end of 2025.
