For children with conditions such as dyslexia, learning to read can be a real struggle. It’s hard not to let discouragement and frustration derail the learning process. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Programs to motivate vulnerable readers are proving to be very effective.

Ashley Short, executive director of the Learning Disabilities Association of Niagara Region and John McNamara, professor in the Department of Child and Youth Studies at Brock University join host Barry Wright from the Niagara Community Observatory to discuss these programs and reading challenges in general.

In the Consider This podcast series researchers dissect issues and events happening all around us – from the end of our street to the other side of the globe – as a way of exploring how we can move forward in the face of these.
