When was the last time you had a dental check up? Six months? Maybe a year? Can you imagine not having had a check-up or your teeth cleaned in years… Or never?

Across Canada every year an estimated 6 million Canadians don’t see a dentist because they can’t afford it.

  • Too many people in our communities are suffering because they can’t afford basic dental care.
  • You can’t work or look for a job if you have a dental abscess or missing front teeth.
  • You can’t be truly healthy if you have diseased teeth and gums.

However, our provincial health insurance doesn’t cover the cost of our teeth and gums.

Do you think you have what it takes to be a Dental Superhero?

So, what can you do to help? Join the Quest Community Health Centre (CHC) Volunteer Dental Program. The Canada Health Act does not include teeth and gums. As a result, 23% of Canadians are unable to access a dentist due to the prohibitive cost. Quest established a Volunteer Dental program to address this barrier. However, the need is so great that we have a very large wait list of clients.

Quest CHC’s Dental Program was established in 2013. It relies on Dental Professionals (assistants, hygienists, and dentists) to provide free of charge services to Quest clients who are experiencing social, economic and cultural barriers to accessing care.

We must increase and expand our wonderful group of dedicated dental professionals so that we can provide much needed services to our clients, thus improving their overall quality of life. You can make an impact today. Volunteering as little as 3 hours a month can make a huge difference in the lives of so many that truly need and deserve our help.

Quest CHC (Quest) is a non-profit registered charitable organization providing primary health care, health promotion, and community capacity building to residents of the St. Catharines area and Niagara Region.

Our staff is made up of a wide range of interdisciplinary health care providers working in a shared care team model. Our team includes client coordinators, doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, dietitians, health promoters, community outreach workers, outreach social workers, outreach nurses, therapists, and community health workers along with other volunteer health professionals such as our dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants and chiropractors.
