This report shows that the volume and severity of crime in Canada, as measured by the Crime Severity Index (CSI), decreased 5 per cent in 2025.
In Canada in 2025, there were 672 homicides, 125 fewer than in 2024. This was the largest annual decline since 1986. Gang-related homicides declined by 24% from 2024.
