Construction of the new Grimsby GO station began in July, 2026. The expected opening date for the new station is summer 2027. The province is using a new standardized design for the station to help reduce construction costs and speed up timelines.

Since 2018, Town of Grimsby staff have worked closely with regional partners, Metrolinx, and the Province of Ontario to support the advancement of GO rail service to Grimsby. This investment in GO transit will support the growing population of Grimsby and the Niagara region, and create lasting economic benefits for residents and businesses.

GO Transit expansion into Grimsby  is part of GO 2.0, an initiative to invest in and increase passenger rail availability across the Niagara region. The new station will include one platform, 220 parking spaces, a bus loop and pick-up/drop-off areas. It will be on GO Transit’s Lakeshore West line, between Confederation GO Station in Hamilton and the St. Catharines GO.
