This report provides an update on Niagara Geopark’s ongoing journey toward UNESCO Global Geopark designation. It addresses recommendations outlined during the 2024 UNESCO evaluation visit to Niagara.
Since the 2024 evaluation, the Niagara Geopark has strengthened its foundation through collaboration, education, sustainability, and reconciliation. New signage, educational partnerships, and community programs have increased visibility, deepened understanding, and expanded engagement across the region. Niagara Geopark’s 2026-2028 strategic plan is built on four pillars: Education, Sustainable Tourism, Community & Culture, and Conservation. The pillars support both UNESCO designation and long-term regional impact.
