This symposium is an opportunity to explore the findings from the UDADA Project’s Black Youth in Canada Mental Health Survey and consider how this knowledge can inform meaningful action across services, organizations, and systems.
The project highlights experiences that are too often overlooked in traditional data, including how race, age, gender, culture, stigma, and systemic barriers shape the mental health and wellbeing of Black youth. Through this youth-centred initiative, Black youth shared their experiences navigating mental health challenges, accessing support, and building resilience.
The findings point to urgent gaps in culturally responsive care, while also identifying opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and stronger, more affirming supports.
This symposium is more than a presentation. It is an opportunity to listen, reflect, and work together to help create communities where Black youth feel seen, understood, supported, and able to thrive.
