SUMMARY:Strengthening Families - After School Prevention Program
DESCRIPTION:Strengthening Families for the Future is a prevention program for families with children of all ages who may be at risk for substance misuse\, depression\, violence\, delinquency\, and school failure. Strengthening Families is effective because it involves the whole family. The goals of the program are to: \n\nreduce children’s or adolescents’ intention to use alcohol and/or other drugs\, and reduce other behaviour problems\nincrease children’s resilience and life skills\nincrease positive and effective parenting\nincrease family communication\n\nStrengthening Families for the Future for Schools is a partnership between the District School Board of Niagara and The John Howard Society of Niagara. \nThis program is funded through Public Safety Canada. \nThis session we will be in 3 locations listed below. \nValley Way- Wednesday-September 24\, 2025-December 17\, 2025- Niagara Falls \nGFESS- Tuesday- September 23\, 2025- December 16\, 2025- Fort Erie \nSenator Gibson- Thursday-September 25\, 2025-December 18\, 2025- Beamsville \nFor further information regarding this program or to volunteer for this program please contact: \nLayla Butler\nLButler@jhs-niagara.ca \n
