SUMMARY:Aging Well\, Living Fully: Biomechanics and Ergonomics for Sexual Well-Being
DESCRIPTION:Join Brock University for a free thoughtful\, practical session on sexual well-being as we age – an important (and often overlooked) part of overall health and quality of life. This session is designed for community members\, practitioners\, students\, and researchers who want to better support healthy aging – whether in their own lives or in their work with older adults. \nPresented by Dr. Richard Hughes\, this talk uses a respectful\, research-informed ergonomic approach to help match the physical demands of intimacy with the strength\, flexibility\, balance\, and comfort of both partners. Dr. Hughes will introduce basic principles of biomechanics and apply them to real-life questions\, including common age-related conditions such as arthritis\, as well as hip precautions following total hip replacement. \nThe session will include time for Q&A. \nThis event is free and open to the public\, but registration is required. Register Here \nFor more information\, please contact Ally Fast at afast@brocku.ca

SUMMARY:Voices That Matter: Black Youth & Mental Health Symposium
DESCRIPTION:This symposium is an opportunity to explore the findings from the UDADA Project’s Black Youth in Canada Mental Health Survey and consider how this knowledge can inform meaningful action across services\, organizations\, and systems. \nThe project highlights experiences that are too often overlooked in traditional data\, including how race\, age\, gender\, culture\, stigma\, and systemic barriers shape the mental health and wellbeing of Black youth. Through this youth-centred initiative\, Black youth shared their experiences navigating mental health challenges\, accessing support\, and building resilience. \nThe findings point to urgent gaps in culturally responsive care\, while also identifying opportunities for collaboration\, innovation\, and stronger\, more affirming supports. \nThis symposium is more than a presentation. It is an opportunity to listen\, reflect\, and work together to help create communities where Black youth feel seen\, understood\, supported\, and able to thrive.
