Michael Cheng is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa, and a psychiatrist at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, where he helps families cope with modern society by helping them (re)attach to people, experiences and activities that give purpose, belonging, meaning and hope. He is the co-founder of, which provides information to families and professionals about mental health and resources. As a parent, he knows first hand the challenge of maintaining genuine, human connection in an increasingly virtual world.
