According to the Niagara Homelessness Point in Time Count, almost one quarter of the respondents identified as Indigenous or having Indigenous ancestry. This is vastly disproportionate to the 2.8% of Niagara’s overall population within the Niagara Region.

The “Indigenous Strategies: Homelessness in Niagara” conference represents a key opportunity to engage us on the issue of housing and homelessness in Niagara and its disproportionate impact on the urban Indigenous population.

Key experts in the Indigenous housing and homelessness sector will be discussing the reality of Indigenous homelessness in Niagara Region, and discuss some innovative solutions currently underway between urban Indigenous housing service providers, mainstream organizations, and all levels of government. The input gathered during subsequent discussion will inform Niagara Region’s engagement on the Housing and Homelessness Action Plan.

All are welcome. Lunch is included.

This event is hosted by the Niagara Aboriginal Working Group on Homelessness.
