SUMMARY:Applications Deadline for the Regional Chair’s Youth Advisory Panel
DESCRIPTION:As part of Niagara Region’s efforts to hear from as many voices as possible\, applications are currently being accepted from youth ages 13-19 to participate on the Regional Chair’s Youth Advisory Panel (RCYAP). \nEstablished in 2021\, RCYAP members provide recommendations\, advice and information to the Regional Chair and staff on issues that affect Niagara teens. The panel is comprised of 12 members\, each with different backgrounds\, experiences\, and viewpoints. The Regional Chair and one Regional Councillor volunteer representative also serve on the panel. \nWhile all areas of the Region’s operations could be discussed\, potential areas of focus for the panel  include the natural environment\, public transportation\, housing and homelessness\, and mental health. The panel will also provide advice to the Regional Chair regarding ways to boost engagement among youth in Regional decision making. \nApplicants with leadership experience\, an understanding of local governance\, and diverse backgrounds are encouraged. No prior advisory board experience is necessary\, but examples of collaborative decision-making are welcomed. \nPanel members will serve a one-year term\, with an option for a one-year extension. The 2024 term runs from May 2024 to June 2025. Applications close on April 21\, 2024. Interested youth can apply online .

DESCRIPTION:Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario invites you to participate in their upcoming training workshop: “It’s Not Right!” Neighbours\, Friends & Family For Older Adults (INR-NFF).” This training offers the opportunity to become a facilitator of “It’s Not Right!” workshops. “It’s Not Right!” workshops teach bystanders of older adults experiencing abuse to recognize the warning signs and then take small practical steps to help that are safe and respectful. \nIf you are interested in becoming a trained facilitator\, register to secure your spot for the upcoming intensive training session on: Thursday\, April 4th (9 – 12 pm ET) via Zoom.
