On October 5th, 2019, the Niagara Regional Native Centre with support from the City of St Catharines, the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre, and Celebration of Nations is proud to host its 6th Annual Traditional Powwow, ‘Nurturing Our Roots’, at Montebello Park, 64 Ontario St, St Catharines. You are invited to join NRNC for Sunrise Ceremony at the Sacred Fire each day, drumming, dancing and loads of family fun! This free event is open to the community boasting traditional crafts, food and information. Grand Entry will be at 12:00pm each day, and closing at 5:00pm. This is a drug- and alcohol-free event. Vendor, sponsorship and donation opportunities are available (contact 905-688-6484). This event is hosted by the Niagara Regional Native Centre.

Re-Imagining Health Symposium

The Re-imagining Health Symposium presented by Brock University is a collaborative and catalyzing event that will bring together health-focused researchers, practitioners, educators, health industry leaders, and policy makers to discuss the future of health care. This exciting symposium has been designed very differently than traditional research conferences to highlight current evidence-based practices, and the promising-practices of today and tomorrow. Experts will present to health professionals on specific tangible skills that those in attendance will be able to take back to their workplaces as new parts of their skill sets. Keynote presentations by: Dr. Zayna Kayat, Future Strategist at SE Health Dr. Mustafa Hirji, Acting Medical Officer of Health and Commissioner Public Health Niagara Region Capacity-building workshops will focus on a variety of topics such as: knowledge translation Indigenous health healthy-communities data in healthcare new medical technologies As the first event of its kind at Brock University, the Re-imagining Health Symposium is expected to draw a large and diverse audience with varying interests in the health field.
