Anxiety and the Gift of the Imagination: A clinical model for helping children 9:00 am
Anxiety and the Gift of the Imagination: A clinical model for helping children @ Webinar
Jul 21 @ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
According to statistics from Canada and the United States, anxiety disorders in children are on the rise. In the time of COVID, anxiety reactions are even more prevalent. In spite of anxiety being a debilitating condition, many children are not motivated to receive psychotherapeutic help, preferring instead to use avoidance as their defense against states of anxiety. This webinar is designed to provide professionals a positive approach to anxiety which is accessible to children, helps them find a way to understand their emotions while enhancing their self-esteem and also gives them tools to gain control and mastery over their troublesome emotions. This webinar will teach a successful therapeutic formulation of anxiety along with a new clinical model for working with children and anxiety management. Dr. Alter will explain how the link between imagination and anxiety can be used effectively in treatment. Explore how children’s anxiety and thinking are different from adults, and how to be more effective with children in creating fundamental change in anxiety management. This approach starts and ends with an enhancement of self-esteem to motivate children to use therapeutic tools and strategies. Registration Fees: General $250 | Student $225 This webinar is brought to you by the SickKids Learning Institute
