Community Forum on Human Trafficking in Niagara @ Silver Spire United Church

This free, day-long forum’s purpose is to raise public awareness and educate community members about the issue of human trafficking and its footprint in Niagara. The Keynote Speaker is The Honourable Rob Nicholson, MP Niagara Falls, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada and current Justice Critic. Come to hear the journeys of local survivors, see a screening of the animated short, “I am Little Red,” by 50 Eggs Films, hear a presentation on the Niagara Region Human Trafficking Emergency Response Protocol, a law enforcement panel discussion, and a presentation on financial industry tracking progress from Project PROTECT. Break-out sessions available: For parents-What You Need to Know – Candace Morley, YMCA HBB Youth-Exploring HT through Drama – John Sweeney, Silver Spire Support for Victims: What We Can Do – Danielle Lewis, Victim Services Niagara Hospitality Sector – Tania Ferlin, Meeting Professionals Against HT RCMP Labour trafficking case study – Lepa Jankovic Intro to Neurobiology of Trauma – Lori Gill, ATTCH Partial Presenters List: Skylar Burbidge & Leona Skye – Survivors; Barb Gosse – CEO, Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking; Niagara Regional Police; Krystal Snider, YWCA Niagara; OPP; Toronto Police Service Register online or by phone (see registration link and phone number above).
